In Conversation With The Soul Of - From Architecture to Jewellery

Founded by Manal Albanyan and Rawan Batterjee, The Soul Of was born from a shared love of jewellery, and a desire to celebrate the strength, capabilities, and individuality of women in every path of life. The brand creates pieces that feel both symbolic and wearable, designed as quiet reminders of ambition, resilience, and personal power.

A signature motif in the collection is the “Hard Hat” - a reimagined emblem of boundless achievement and meaningful impact. We spoke with the founders about their journey from architecture to jewellery, the message behind the Hard Hat, and why craftsmanship is non-negotiable when bringing a symbol to life.

What inspired you both to create The Soul Of?

We met in a completely different field — architecture. Jewelry had nothing to do with our work at the time. We worked together in an architecture firm, a profession that demands creativity, vision, and a genuine love for seeing a project come to life. From the earliest planning stages and selecting materials to handing over a fully furnished space, we were involved in every detail. In many ways, it felt like fashion design — but for a space instead of a person.

During our coffee breaks, we often found ourselves window shopping for jewelry. We both had a dream piece we longed to design for ourselves — something personal and meaningful. When we finally decided to bring those designs to life, we realized we didn’t want to keep them just for us. We wanted to share them with every beautiful soul and every strong, ambitious woman — creating pieces that reflect strength, elegance, and individuality.

How do you translate women’s strength and individuality into your work?

We do it by keeping our designs simple, strong, and confident — shapes and details that feel bold but elegant. We also add small personal touches so each piece feels unique. Our jewelry is made to reflect a woman’s confidence, beauty, and personality.

What does the “hard hat” motif represent within your collection?

The “Hard Hat” is inspired by the helmets worn on construction sites, reimagined for all hardworking women — moms, doctors, teachers, and anyone giving their all. It’s a symbol of strength, determination, and resilience in every woman’s daily efforts.

How central is craftsmanship to bringing your symbolic pieces to life?

High quality craftsmanship is essential to creating a perfect finished product. It’s similar to handing over a completed architecture project — the final finish is what truly matters. No one sees all the hard work behind it, and if the finish isn’t perfect, all the effort doesn’t count.

Finding the right craftsmanship can be challenging. For example, it took us months to find someone who could create the “Hard Hat” exactly as clean and precise as we envisioned.
