ACH - The Naqda (Talli) Abaya - White
ACH - The Naqda (Talli) Abaya - White
Naqda, also known as Talli, is a traditional women’s craft that has long been practised in the Najd region of Saudi Arabia, as well as in Bahrain and Kuwait. A similar art form is known in Egypt as Assiut Talli.
The craft is called Naqda because the threads used in its creation are coated with gold and silver, making them highly valued and cared for much like precious jewellery. These metallic threads are sensitive to humidity and direct exposure to perfumes, and they are traditionally maintained through gentle wiping rather than washing.
Among the most well-known Gulf Naqda patterns are:
Rainfall Pattern
The Chandelier
The Scorpion
Palm Frond Motif
The Almond Pattern (Al-Rubayana)
Naqda remains a cherished expression of Gulf heritage, celebrated for its intricate craftsmanship and timeless elegance.
The set includes the abaya and a white top and trousers.
